Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA)

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a flagship program of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, launched in 2014 with the vision to bring transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to build the architecture of an inclusive India. The program aims to enable higher educational institutions to work with rural communities for identifying and solving their development challenges through appropriate technologies and sustainable practices.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is the National Coordinating Institute for UBA, collaborating with over 4000 participating institutions and impacting more than 19,000 villages. Through its action-oriented initiatives, UBA addresses key domains such as organic agriculture, water management, rural energy systems, rural crafts and industries, sanitation, healthcare, housing, basic amenities, and e-governance.
By engaging students, researchers, and faculty members, UBA fosters a paradigm shift in academic and research environments, promoting societal relevance and inclusivity. It aspires to bridge the gap between urban and rural India, aligning with the vision of a self-reliant and sustainable nation.
