Welcome to the Orthopedic Biomechanics and Implant Design Group |
|
·
Do you know that bone is a smart material which can adapt itself
with the amount of loading it experiences? ·
Have you ever wondered why do people have joint pains and how
does joint replacement mitigate the problem? ·
Do you want to explore the design philosophy behind joint
replacement implants? If
any of these answers is yes, then you are on the right place! The Orthopedic Biomechanics and Implant Design group is focused
on understanding the mechanics of implant-bone system. The joint replacement
surgeries are expected to restore the normal joint movements in the patients.
However, sometimes these joint replacements fail and require revision
surgeries which are both time-consuming and expensive. The Orthopedic Biomechanics and Implant Design group, led by Dr. Kaushik Mukherjee, is exploring the biomechanical
causes behind the failure of the implant-bone system with an aim to design
better and improved joint replacement implants. We are actively looking for Postdoctoral candidates and
PhD/MS(R) students. If you are from Mechanical Engineering/Biomedical
Engineering/Bioengineering background and willing to work in this
interdisciplinary area, please drop me an email with your CV and 1-page
Motivation letter. Candidates from other background(s) with suitable
experience(s) are also encouraged to contact me for possible vacancies. |
